Manuscript Guidelines

Save your manuscript in Word .doc, or if you use a word processor other than MS Word, save it in .rtf (rich text format) to preserve any special formatting.

You can save your manuscript two ways:

• As one continuous file, making sure each new chapter is clearly indicated
• Save each chapter as an individual file; name these “Chapter1.doc” (or .rtf), “Chapter2.doc”, “Chapter3.doc”, etc. even if your chapters are not numbered within the manuscript. 

At the top of the first page of your first chapter, place your book title and byline.

If you have a dedication, save this as a separate file, and name it “YourBookTitle-Dedication.doc” (replace YourBookTitle with the title of your book.)

If you want an author information page at the end of your book, save it as a separate file and name it “YourBookTitle-Authorinfo.doc” (replace YourBookTitle with the title of your book.) This should be less than 300 words. 

If you are submitting a cover image, save this as a separate file and name it “YourBookTitle-Cover.TIF” (replace YourBookTitle with the title of your book; all images must be 300dpi CMKY .TIF)

Use tab stops at the beginning of new paragraphs, or in Word, use the first line guide.

Single space your manuscript.
Do not double space following periods.
Use italics instead of underlining when possible. Use bold face minimally.
Do not use hard returns at the end of sentences; let your word processor word wrap for you.

Use the Show/Hide function of Word to double check for extra spaces and hard returns.
